Description

FAA CERTIFIED GROUND EGRESS SOLUTION

Capewell Aerial Systems is the exclusive worldwide supplier and manufacturer of the Emergency Descent Device (EDD). The EDD provides a safe and rapid method of descent from an aircraft during an on-ground emergency situation requiring aircrew egress. The device is attached to the inside of the aircraft permitting two-hand descent. The internal centrifugual braking mechanism slows the descent to a safe rate. The EDD was originally developed for the C-5A, and on February 28, 1997 Capewell obtained FAA Certification for commercial use of EDD’s on aircraft manufactured by Boeing, Airbus and Lockheed. Since that time, Capewell has continued to introduce product improvements to maximize reliability and safety. In 2011, the Capewell EDD was FAA certified for use in the Boeing 747-8 and 787.
